Description
Demountable wall technicians typically work for companies involved in commercial interior construction, architectural wall manufacturers, furniture dealerships, and office design and fit-out companies. This role often requires direct collaboration with clients, site supervisors, and general contractors to ensure the seamless installation of demountable wall systems. Strong customer service skills are crucial, as you will be the primary on-site point of contact. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are also required, as travel between job sites and occasional transportation of tools or materials is necessary.
As a Lead Hand, you will oversee a team of workers, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for coordinating work across multiple areas, ensuring that safety protocols are followed at all times. In this role, you will assist workers with issues or concerns and may mentor apprentices within your trade. You will also ensure that project goals are met within the set timelines, while effectively prioritizing tasks as needed.
A key responsibility of the Lead Hand is to identify the required tools, materials, and personnel for specific jobs. If a tool or resource is unavailable, you will notify your supervisor and submit the necessary requests and documentation. Reporting directly to the supervising manager, the Lead Hand plays a critical role in decision-making and disciplinary actions. Flexibility is essential, as this role often involves varying schedules and travel to different job sites.
Successful Lead Hands should have significant experience in their trade, exceptional time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
